New Kia Carens Facelift and Carens EV Launch In 2025

The Kia Carens compact MPV has been a volume generator for the South Korean automaker ever since its launch in early 2022. Now, it’s ready to receive its first mid-life update, likely to take place early next year. Testing for the facelifted version has already commenced in the country. The new Kia Carens facelift is expected to feature slightly improved styling and a host of new features.

While spy images of the camouflaged test mules have covered most of its design details, the headlamp design is likely to be similar to that of the Seltos facelift. The compact MPV might also come with newly designed alloy wheels and slightly tweaked front and rear bumpers. The rear profile could be revised with new taillamps featuring C-shaped LED elements, as seen in the Sonet facelift.

The interior of the new Kia Carens facelift will also see minimal updates, including new materials for the dashboard and upholstery, and new fabrics. It will continue to be available in 6- and 7-seat configurations. Rumor has it that the updated Carens could be the first vehicle in its segment to come with an ADAS suite. No changes are expected to be made to the engine options. The new Carens will use the same engines: 115bhp, 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 160bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol and 116bhp, 1.5L diesel. Transmission options will remain the same, including a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, 6-speed torque converter automatic, and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic unit. Interestingly, Kia will also introduce the Carens with an electric powertrain by next year. Once launched, it will become the most affordable electric MPV in the country.

Prices of the new Kia Carens facelift are expected to be more or less similar to the current version. At present, the model lineup is available in 27 variants, priced from Rs 10.52 lakh to Rs 19.67 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom). The Carens EV is likely to cost between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 22 lakh.
