Hyundai Prepares For Electric Creta Launch in 2025

Hyundai Creta, the top volume generator for the South Korean automaker in India, is ready to foray into the EV (electric vehicle) segment. The carmaker has confirmed that the SUV’s electric iteration will enter production in December 2024 at its Chennai-based facility, making Hyundai’s first locally produced EV.  Although the official launch date of the Hyundai Creta EV is yet to be announced, the model is likely to hit roads in the first quarter of 2025.

Additionally, the company aims to make its Pune plant as a production hub with capacity of 2 lakh units per annum. The facility is likely to be operational in the second half of the next year. Hyundai’s Chennai plant currently has a production capacity of 8.24 lakh units. It clearly hints at the company’s intention to achieve over 10 lakh manufacturing capacity by the end of 2025.

2024 Hyundai Creta Rear Design

Talking about the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, the model will be based on the facelifted Creta. If reports are to be believed, the electric SUV could be offered with a 45kWh battery pack sourced from LG Chem. It’s battery pack will be smaller than the forthcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX and the existing MG ZS EV.

Just so you know, the eVX is likely to come with two battery pack options – 48kWh and 60kWh and XS EV is available with a 50.3kWh battery. The new Creta EV might borrow the electric motor from the Kona EV that’s retailed in the global market. The latter one comes with a single motor fitted on the front axle. The setup delivers a maximum power of 138bhp and 255Nm of torque.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor India is gearing up to launch the updated Alcazar in coming months. Minimal changes are expected to be made to the vehicle. The new model will get features such as ADAS tech, a panoramic sunroof, dual zone climate control, ventilated seats, dual screen setup and more. The SUV might also come with the new interior theme and upholstery.
