3 New Kia Cars To Launch In Next 12 Months

Kia India had quite a fruitful last year as it launched the updated versions of the Seltos and Sonet in the country. The Korean automaker is already among the top 5 automakers in the Indian market. The brand has confirmed that product onslaught will continue this year too, as it is all set to launch a plethora of new cars in the domestic market. In this listicle, we have covered all the new Kia cars launching in India this year.

1. 2024 Kia Carnival

2024 Kia Carnival

The fourth-gen Kia Carnival, based on the Kia KA4 Concept, will be the brand’s first major launch in the Indian market this year. Based on Kia’s global design language of ‘Oppositions United’, it is available in multiple seating layouts (7-seater, 9-seater and 11-seater) internationally. The overall design makes it more of a SUV than an MPV. The 2024 Carnival MPV made its first public appearance at last year’s Auto Expo. Ahead of its launch in July, it has been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. As far as the cabin is concerned, the new MPV will feature a 12.3-inch dual screen setup for instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system. It is expected to carry the same 2.2L 4-cylinder diesel engine as its predecessor when it goes on sale in India at an expected starting price of Rs 27 lakh (ex-showroom).

2. Kia EV9

The Korean automaker has formulated a new product strategy for the Indian market, named as Kia 2.0 and under this initiative, the EV9 will debut in the country in the second half of this year. Being the brand’s new flagship electric car, the EV9 had its world premiere last year in Seoul, South Korea. Identical to its sibling EV6, it will be sold in India in limited numbers through the CBU route. The all-electric SUV has already been spotted in India during its test trials. Some of the notable features in the EV9 include 21-inch machine-cut alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, 14-speaker Meridian music system, 12.3-inch dual screens for instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system. Underpinning Hyundai Group’s E-GMP architecture, the SUV measures well over 5 metres in length with three-row (7-seater) setup while powered by a 99.8 kWh battery pack in the range-topping model which returns a range of 541 km on a single charge. Codenamed internally as Kia ‘AY’, the Clavis is expected to launch in India in early 2025. It will be a sub 4-meter SUV which will be positioned between the Seltos and Sonet. Several media reports have claimed that Kia Clavis will be presented in both ICE and EV avatars. The exact technical specs of the all-new SUV are not in public domain yet but we expect the Clavis to use the Sonet’s 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine. However, the bigger news is that it could become the first Kia car in India to be equipped with a strong hybrid powertrain setup. Sources have told us that Kia Clavis will take styling inspiration from the Soul EV with an upright design that will offer more legroom in the rear seat and a bigger cargo capacity.
