BYD Seal Range, Specs, Features & Price Expectations

BYD Seal, the pure-electric offering from the Chinese automaker, is set to hit showrooms on March 5th, 2024. Ahead of its official launch, specifications for the India-spec model have been unveiled. The Seal electric sedan will be offered in a single variant, equipped with an 82.5kWh battery pack providing a range of 570km (WLTP cycle) on a full charge. The powertrain setup includes an electric motor mounted on the rear axle, producing 230bhp and 360Nm of torque. Weighing 2,055kg, the EV is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100kmph in 5.9 seconds.

Featuring BYD’s blade technology, the Seal electric sedan will come with charging options – a regular 11kW AC charger and a high-speed 150kW charger. The former can fully charge the battery in 8.6 hours, while the latter can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 37 minutes.

In terms of features, the BYD Seal boasts a rotating 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Central AC vents expand alongside the infotainment unit, with the drive selector and a scroll wheel for multiple drive modes positioned below. The center console hosts controls for various functionalities, along with two wireless charging pads.

Additional features include a HUD (head-up display), a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system, a panoramic sunroof, an 8-way adjustable driver’s seat with memory function, heated and ventilated front seats, a 6-way electrically adjustable co-driver’s seat, quilted vegan leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control and many more.

Pre-bookings for the BYD Seal electric sedan are currently being accepted by select BYD dealers. Upon launch, the model will compete against the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, priced at Rs 45.95 lakh and Rs 60.95 lakh – Rs 65.95 lakh respectively (all prices ex-showroom). Prices for the BYD Seal are anticipated to range between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 55 lakh.
