One specific category that’s quite intriguing is the premium 7-seater SUV space. These vehicles have always been favored for their redefined opulence and practicality, catering to diverse preferences. Upcoming Premium 7-Seater SUVs In India
MG Gloster Facelift
The MG Gloster SUV, initially introduced in 2020, is now due for a mid-life update in India. The facelifted version is currently undergoing initial testing and is expected to go on sale in the second half of 2024. Recent spy images reveal the SUV’s revised and larger front grille with square elements and a satin black finish, along with a more angular nose. Select variants of the new Gloster will feature a contrast matte black finish and additional cladding across the body. Minimal changes are expected to be made to the interior. The 2024 MG Gloster facelift will continue to be powered by the 2.0L turbo diesel engine, available in two drivetrain options – 4X4 and 4X2.
New-Gen Toyota Fortuner
The Toyota Fortuner, India’s top-selling premium 7-seater SUV, is set to enter its next generation this year. The all-new model is expected to debut towards the end of 2024, with its market launch likely to follow in 2025. The new Fortuner will be based on Toyota’s advanced TNGA-F platform, also used in the upcoming Tacoma pickup and Land Cruiser 300 SUV. Globally, the SUV will receive a hybrid powertrain featuring a 2.8L turbo diesel engine and a 48V mild hybrid tech. Several new features will be introduced, including electric power steering, electronically controlled vehicle stability control, and ADAS tech. Major changes are also expected to be made to its exterior.
Kia EV9
The Kia EV9 will be the second electric offering from the South Korean automaker in India. It will be the brand’s flagship electric SUV, slated to hit showrooms in the second half of 2024. Globally, the EV9 comes with multiple powertrain options, including a 76kWh battery with RWD, a 99.8kWh battery with RWD, and dual-electric motor and AWD options. The base variant is claimed to deliver a range of 358km, while the higher trim with a bigger battery pack offers 541km. The EV9 boasts advanced features such as a 12.3-inch driver display screen, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and wireless smartphone connectivity, a 5.3-inch climate control screen, OTA updates, a 14-speaker Meridian sound system, wireless phone charging, and more.
New-Gen Skoda Kodiaq
The new-generation Skoda Kodiaq was revealed in late 2023, with its India launch expected in 2024. Compared to the current generation, the new model is 61mm longer, 18mm narrower, and 17mm shorter, while the wheelbase remains unchanged. The 5-seater version offers a boot space of 910 liters (expandable to 2105 liters by folding the rear seats), while the 7-seater model has a luggage capacity of 340 liters (expandable to 845 liters by folding the third-row seats). Significant changes have been made to its design and interior. Features such as are reserved for the top-end Sportline trim. The global-spec 2024 Kodiaq will be offered with multiple powertrains – a 1.5L TSI petrol with mild hybrid tech (148bhp), a 2.0L TSI (201bhp) with AWD, and a 2.0L TDI diesel (148bhp with FWD and 190bhp with AWD). All engines come with a 7-speed DSG gearbox as standard.
