Mahindra Thar 5-Door With Dual-Tone Interiors- Spied Undisguised

It is no secret that Mahindra is testing a more practical & spacious long wheelbase version of the Thar lifestyle SUV, which is scheduled to be launched sometime in 2024. Ahead of the official reveal, the Mahindra Thar 5-Door’s dashboard has been spotted in a video. The video reveals that the Thar’s dashboard undergoing vibration tests at Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai.

The vibration test is an important step in the vehicle development. This tests ensures cabin durability while driving through tough terrains. Mahindra is testing the dashboard in its skeletal form, which shows the key changes. The dashboard features the Thar’s signature round-shaped Air-con vents, familiar grab handle for the co-occupant and a metal badge plate below the left air-con vent.

Instead of the all-black colour scheme in the 3-door Thar, the LWB Mahindra Thar 5-door comes with dual-tone brown and black colour scheme. The similar paint scheme is also expected to diferent parts of the cabin including the seat upholstery and on the door panels. There is a hollow space for the infotainment screen, which appears bigger than the one offered in the 3-door variant. This space will be enough to accommodate a bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, which will also have Mahindra’s latest user interface. However, the switchgears for HVAC, rotary dial and physical buttons appears identical to the 3-door Thar.

The previous spy images reveal that the Mahindra Thar 5-door will have a fixed roof and will come with a single-pane sunroof. It is expected to receive a new instrument console and new front and rear armrest. The SUV could be offered with two captain seats or a bench-type seat in the second row.

It is expected to be offered with petrol and diesel engine options, which are offered with the new Mahindra Scorpio-N. The engine options will include a 2.0L turbo petrol and a 2.2L turbo diesel. While powering the Scorpio N, the turbo petrol engine is capable of producing 200bhp and a peak torque of 370-380Nm. The turbo-diesel engine offers two states of tunes – 172bhp & 370Nm with MT & 400Nm with AT, and a 130bhp and 300Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
