Triumph Thruxton 400 To Join Speed 400, Scrambler 400X – Spied

The Triumph Thruxton 400 will be the third motorcycle developed by Bajaj Auto for India and global markets.

Bajaj-Triumph partnership had launched the Speed 400 roadster in the Indian market on July 5, 2023. The company has recently introduced the Scrambler 400 X, which is designed and developed on the Speed 400 platform. It was speculated that the partnership will introduce multiple new motorcycles on the same platform.

Now, a new model on the same platform has been spied on foreign soil. In fact, the spotted motorcycle looks similar to the larger Triumph Thruxton 1200. The new motorcycle could be called the Triumph Thruxton 400. The motorcycle’s several design elements including the wheels, bar-end mirrors, round LED headlight and fuel tank is shared with the Speed 400. Adding to it, the motorcycle features the same upswept exhaust muffler and 17-inch front wheel.

The biggest change is the presence of a cafe racer front cowl. The Triumph Thruxton 400 comes with a more aggressively placed footpegs, a compact rear LED tail-lamp and lower-positioned indicators. The motorcycle comes with USD front forks and monoshock at the rear.

The motorcycle features the same single-piece seat that is available on the Speed 400; however, it now has a completely revised square-shaped pillion grab rail. The motorcycle’s 17-inch wheels are wrapped in Pirelli Rosso 3 rubber, which is similar to the one offered on the International-spec Speed 400. The India-spec model is most likely to feature the locally-sourced MRF or Apollo rubber, which is similar to the one offered on the Speed 400 & the Scrambler 400X.

It is likely to be powered by a 398cc, single-cylinder TR-Series engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox. This engine is capable of producing 40bhp at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 37.5Nm at 6,500rpm. The motorcycle will come with disc brakes at both ends along with a dual-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System). Triumph could make some changes to the dinal drive gearing to suit the character of a more aggressive motorcycle.
