Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 Unveiled – Live Photos & Details

Royal Enfield has launched the all-new Himalayan 450 dual-purpose motorcycle at its annual Rider Mania event in Goa. Interestingly, the company has also showcased the exciting new RE Shotgun 650 at the event. It is basically the production version of the RE SG650 concept that debuted at the 2021 EICMA motor show.

The motorcycle shown in the pictures is a factory-custom and only 25 units will be produced; however, it clearly previews the styling of the production-spec model. The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 is the brand’s 4th 650cc twin-cylinder motorcycle, joining the likes of Interceptor 650, Continent GT 650 and the Super Meteor 650.

The new Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 is based on the same platform that underpins the Super Meteor 650, Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. It is powered by the same 647.95cc air/oil-cooled parallel-twin engine that produces a peak power of 47.65PS and a peak torque of 52Nm. It comes fitted with Showa-sourced USD (Upside-Down) front fork, complemented by twin shock absorber at the rear. Braking duties are handled by ByBre front and rear brakes, assisted by a dual-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) system.

The new Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 measures 2170mm in length, 820mm in width (835mm as an option), and has a height of 1105mm. Compared to the Super Meteor 650, the new motorcycle is compact and has a higher seat height. The motorcycle has a wheelbase of 1465mm, which is again 35mm lesser than the 650cc cruiser sibling. It carries a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 428kg.

RE Shotgun Design

The motorcycle looks quite similar to the SG650 concept. The shape of the headlight bracket and the upswept dual-exhaust system appears identical to the concept. In fact, the big fuel tank and the single-seat setup look similar to the concept. The motorcycle is finished in dual-tone black and light blue shade with RE and Shotgun logos in Yellow, while the engine casing and other cycle parts are finished in black.

RE Shotgun 650 Launch

It comes with semi-digital instrument console with tripper navigation, and the set-up is directly lifted from the Super Meteor. The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 offers a more upright seating position, with mid-set foot pegs and a taller seat. On the other hand, the Super Meteor 650 cruiser has forward-set foot pegs and low rider’s height for more relaxed and feet-forward riding position. It features a round headlamp, round rear view mirrors, wide handlebar, a round fuel tank and short fenders.
