French automaker, Renault has officially revealed the new generation Dacia Duster mid-sized SUV for the global markets. The European-spec model will be sold under the Dacia nameplate, while the India-spec model will continue to be sold under the Renault nameplate. Based on an all-new platform, the new Renault Duster 2024 comes with all-new styling and feature-loaded interior along with new hybrid powertrains.

1. Launch Timeline
The 3rd generation Renault Duster will go on sale in the European markets in the first half of 2024. The India-spec model will receive significant changes before introducing in our market. It is expected to be launched in our market sometime in 2025.
2. New Platform
The new generation Dacia Duster is based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-B modular platform, which underpins the Sandero and the Jogger in the international markets. This platform is versatile enough to accommodate different body styles and engine options including petrol, strong hybrid and plug-in hybrid. Nissan will also have its own version of the new Duster SUV in our market in 2025.
3. Bigster-inspired design
The new-gen Dacia Duster styling is inspired from the 7-seater Bigster concept, which will also enter the production-line in 2025. The front fascia gets a Y-shaped LED DRLs in the headlights, which are connected by the chrome elements on the signature Dacia grille. The lower bumper looks like a flattened bull bar, which now has large air dam with rectangle inserts and circular fog light units. It gets a prominent skid plate that gives it a rugged look.
The rear profile now has Y-shaped LED tail-lights, tapering rear quarter glass, roof integrated spoiler and a much cleaner tailgate design. The SUV has blacked out pillars, rear door handles on the C-pillar, large squared-off wheel arches, prominent roof rails, and blacked out body cladding.
4. Dimensions
In terms of proportions, the new Duster is 4.34 meters in length, 1.81 meters in width and 1.66 meters in height, and has a wheelbase of 2657mm. The overall size is very similar to the previous generation model; however, the wheelbase is shorter than the second gen model. The 4×4 version of the Duster has a ground clearance of 217mm, while the 4×2 version has a ground clearance of 209mm. The luggage compartment is also wider and taller, and is claimed to offer a space of up to 472-litres (an increase of 6% compared to the 2nd generation Duster).
5. All-new Interior
Thanks to the new CMF-B platform, the new Duster is claimed to offer more legroom, headroom and shoulder space in both front and rear occupants. It comes with an all-new dashboard layout dominated by a large freestanding touchscreen infotainment. The SUV has an all-new central console and a digital instrument console; however, the entry-level versions will continue to offer a semi-digital driver’s display. The SUV comes with the redesigned automatic selector lever, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and air con vent grille with a Y-shaped design.

7. ADAS Tech
The new-gen Renault Duster is also equipped with advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) with features like automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, lane keep assist and driver attention alert.
8. Hybrid Engine
The new generation Duster is offered with strong hybrid and mild-hybrid engines. The SUV gets a 94bhp, 1.6-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors (49bhp drive motor), and an electric automatic gearbox (4 engine ratios & 2 motor ratios). The SUV is packed with a 1.2kWh battery pack, which also supports Regenerative braking. Renault claims that SUV can drive in all-electric mode up to 80% of the time in Cities.
The SUV also gets a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a 48V mild hybrid motor. This engine is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox with 4×2 and 4×4 versions. The mild hybrid setup features an 0.8kWh battery pack, which also supports regenerative braking system. The global mdoel also gets an LPG version, which claims to offer a total range of 1300km.
