Updated Kia Sonet, New-Gen Carnival Launch Timeline

Kia India has recently updated its popular Seltos SUV with subtle cosmetic enhancements, new features, and a fresh 1.5L turbo petrol engine. Now, the automaker is preparing to launch the revamped Sonet subcompact SUV and the fourth-generation Carnival MPV. The Sonet is expected to hit the market in the next few months, while the Carnival is scheduled for arrival next year.

The updated Kia Sonet, currently in its testing phase, is likely to undergo noticeable changes inside and out. Newly surfaced spy images reveal that the new Sonet will feature dual-tone (Beige and Black) upholstery, a new fully digital instrument cluster, and an updated climate control module.

This time around, the subcompact SUV will also come equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) technology and a 360-degree camera, albeit available only in the higher trim levels. There will be no changes to its engine lineup, with the 2023 Kia Sonet continuing to offer the 83bhp 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol, 120bhp 1.0L turbo petrol, and 115bhp 1.5L turbo diesel engine options.

In contrast, the new Kia Carnival will feature a more angular and upright stance, characterized by L-shaped headlamps and taillamps, updated front and rear bumpers, and newly designed alloy wheels. Previewed as the KA4 at the 2023 Auto Expo, the all-new Carnival is 40mm longer and 10mm wider than the current generation, with a 30mm longer wheelbase.

It is built on the new-gen N3 platform and powered by the 2.2L Smartstream turbo diesel engine, delivering 199bhp and 450Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. The three-row MPV is equipped with ADAS technology, alongside various advanced comfort and connectivity features such as dual 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment system and instrument console, touch-sensitive buttons around the screen, reclining captain chairs with adjustable backrests for the middle row passengers, etc.
