New-Gen Toyota Fortuner Shapes Up Nicely In A Rendering

India’s leading premium 7-seater SUV, the Toyota Fortuner, is gearing up for its next-generation update. While prototypes are yet to be revealed, it’s safe to assume that the global debut is still some distance away. The anticipated launch of the new 2024 Toyota Fortuner model in India is expected to take place next year. In terms of design, features, and performance, the forthcoming iteration is poised to surpass the current generation.

A recent digital rendering offers a glimpse into the anticipated next-gen design. The rendered version showcases a completely revamped front fascia, characterized by a larger grille featuring horizontal strips and the iconic Toyota logo. The design incorporates newly styled all-LED headlights, L-shaped LED daytime running lights, a revised bumper with silver skid plates on either side, and rectangular housing for fog lamps. While the digital rendering doesn’t provide a view of the rear section, it’s reasonable to anticipate notable changes in that area as well.

New Toyota Fortuner Design

The overarching design philosophy of the new 2024 Toyota Fortuner will draw inspiration from the recently unveiled new Tacoma pickup truck, which made its debut in May 2023. Similar to the pickup truck, the upcoming SUV will be built on a fresh platform and equipped with modern hybrid powertrain options and cutting-edge features. The engine lineup is expected to encompass the existing 2.4L turbo petrol unit alongside a new diesel engine featuring mild hybrid technology. The potential oil burner could be a 1GD-FTV 2.8L unit, coupled with a 48V battery, a small electric motor, and an integrated starter generator. Toyota’s innovative mild hybrid tech promises a 10% improvement in fuel efficiency, making the new Fortuner a more economical option compared to its predecessor.

The anticipated upgrades for the new 2024 Toyota Fortuner include the incorporation of the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), vehicle stability control, and hydraulic steering wheel. With these enhancements on the horizon, it’s likely that the upcoming model will command a higher price than the current variant, which falls within the price range of Rs 32.59 lakh to Rs 50.34 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom).
