Tatas 3 Popular SUVs To Go Electric Launch Timeline

Tata Motors, India’s largest EV (electric vehicle) manufacturer, has an aggressive plan for expanding its presence in the EV segment. The company has announced that it is well on track to bring in 10 electric vehicles over the next five years. That means we will witness 1 or 2 new Tata EVs every year. The plan outlines electric iterations of its three existing SUVs, including Punch, Harrier, and Safari, along with the Sierra EV, Curvv EV, Altroz EV, Avinya-based EV, and more. Tata Punch EV

The Punch’s electric version is reported to go on sale during this year’s festive season. The model, currently in its testing phase, will have some Curvv concept-inspired changes inside and out. The fresh spy images show that the micro EV gets a new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo in the center, as we have seen in the Curvv. There will also be a 360-degree camera, a rotary drive selector, and an electronic parking brake. The Tata Punch EV is likely to offer a range of around 300 km on a full charge. It could share its powertrain with the Tiago EV. More details here…

Tata Harrier EV

The Tata Harrier EV concept was showcased alongside the Curvv and Avinya EV concepts at the 2023 Auto Expo. The production version of the former is likely to arrive sometime next year. The Harrier EV will be based on Tata’s Gen 2 (aka Sigma) platform, which is essentially a heavily modified version of its architecture. The electric SUV is expected to retain most of its design elements from the concept, such as a new blanked-off grille, split headlamps with a new LED light bar, a tweaked bumper, EV badges on the fenders, flush door handles, bigger wheels, and new taillamps with a new LED light bar running across the tailgate. The electric Harrier will have autonomous aids and modern tech. More details here…

Tata Safari EV

The electric iteration of the Tata Safari will share a resemblance with the Harrier EV. Similar to its younger sibling, it will be built on the heavily re-engineered OmegaArch architecture, named Sigma/Gen 2 platform. Significant EV-specific changes will be made to its exterior and interior. The Safari EV is likely to come with vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities. Its powertrain setup might include a battery capacity of around 60 kWh, and it is likely to offer a range of around 400-500 km. The market launch of the Tata Safari EV will happen after the Harrier EV. More details here…
