Tata Frest Name Trademarked In India Is it for Curvv SUV?

Tata Motors has lined up multiple new products for the Indian market. This year, the carmaker will bring in updated versions of its popular SUVs, including the Nexon, Harrier, and Safari, along with the Punch CNG and Punch EV. 2024 will surely be more exciting with the debut of the production-ready Curvv coupe SUV, and it seems like Tata has begun initial preparations for it. The company recently filed a trademark application for the Tata Frest, suggesting that the manufacturer’s new midsize SUV could be launched here under the same name. For people who are not aware, the Tata Curvv was showcased in its concept avatar at this year’s Auto Expo. It previews the brand’s new ‘Digital’ design language and new-gen electric architecture. The company had revealed that the Curvv (Tata Frest) will be made available with electric powertrain and ICE (internal combustion engine) options. The latest sketches hint that the new midsize SUV could also be offered with the CNG fuel option.

There will also be a 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate control with two toggles, and auto park assist. The dual free-standing digital screens – one for the infotainment system and one for the instrument cluster – will remain intact. Features such as a three-layer dashboard, a floating center console, a rotary gear selector, a panoramic sunroof, a center armrest, and a new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo in the center will also be retained from the concept.

The Tata Curvv (Tata Frest) will feature a new 1.2L direct injection petrol engine under the hood. The motor, with both manual and automatic gearbox options, will deliver a peak power of 125bhp and 225Nm of torque. Tata claims that the SUV’s electric version will promise a range of 400km – 500km. However, the battery pack details, power, and torque outputs are yet to be revealed.
