Tata Motors To Launch 4 SUVs In 2023 – New Nexon To Punch EV
Tata Motors is getting aggressive with its product strategy for the Indian market. The company is preparing a wide range of new models including the new Curvv SUV Coupe and the new Sierra. Moreover, Tata will also upgrade its existing SUV line-up with new powertrain options and design & interior changes. This year, Tata Motors will give upgrade to its 3 popular SUVs. Moreover, an electric iteration of the Punch micro SUV will be launched this year.
1. New Tata Nexon
Tata Motors will launch the heavily updated Nexon compact SUV in our country by August 2023. The updated Nexon will come with Curvv SUV Coupe inspired design and interior along with a more powerful turbo petrol engine. The SUV will have Tata’s latest design philosophy with a twin-part grille with diamond-shaped inserts in the lower half, full-width LED bar connecting both headlamps and flatter nose. It will have new tail-lamps with a connected light bar, a new rear bumper, and dynamic turn signals.
The SUV will have new dashboard and central console design. It will get a new two-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel with toggle switches with touch sensitive buttons, new seat upholstery,and new touch panel & toggle switches for the HVAC control. It will have a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, a digital instrument console, a drive mode selector, a 360 degree camera and a wireless charger. It will be powered by a new 1.2L turbo petrol engine that produces 125PS and 225Nm of torque.
2. New Harrier/Safari
Tata Motors is testing the heavily updated versions of the Harrier & Safari SUVs. Both SUVs will receive significant design changes and upgraded interior along with a new turbo petrol engine. The styling of the new SUVs will be inspired from the Harrier EV concept that debuted at the 2023 Auto Expo. Both SUVs will have a new front grille with vertical slats and split headlamp setup connected via a LED light bar. The SUV will have new alloy wheels and revised tail-lamps connected with an LED light bar.
The new models will have a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a new 7-inch digital instrument console and ADAS tech. The new SUVs will be powered by a 1.5-litre direct injection turbo petrol engine that produces 170bhp and 280Nm of torque. The diesel version will get the 2.0-litre turbo engine that is good enough for 170bhp and 350Nm of torque.
3. Tata Punch EV
Tata Motors is preparing an electric derivative of the Punch micro SUV, which is rumoured to be launched by October 2023. The production of the small SUV is expected to commence in June 2023. The test mule of the Punch EV looks identical to the ICE version; however, it gets the rear disc brakes. The new EV will be based on the ALFA modular platform, which will be tweaked to accommodate an electric powertrain. The micro SUV is likely to get an electronic parking brake and drive selector from the Nexon EV Max.
The Tata Punch EV will receive the brand’s Ziptron powertrain, which comprises of a liquid-cooled battery with a permanent magnet synchronous motor powering the front wheels. It will directly rival the Citroen eC3. The new model is expected to offer a certified range of over 300kms.
