Simple Energy’s Electric Plans – 2 New e-Scooters, e-Bike, e-Car
Simple Energy recently rolled out its first electric scooter in India – the Simple One. At the launch event, the two-wheeler has revealed that its working on two new electric scooters and one electric bike that will arrive in the next 18 months. The upcoming Simple electric scooters will be more affordable than the Simple One that costs between Rs 1.45 lakh – Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).
One of them will be performance-oriented and the other one will be built for day-to-day utility purpose. The upcoming Simple electric scooters, which will share platform with the One, will be priced between Rs 1 lakh – Rs 1.5 lakh. The models are expected to enter into production in the next 8-10 months. The company’s new electric bike will be a premium product and could be priced within the range of Rs 3 lakh – Rs 5 lakh.
Furthermore, the electric start-up will foray into the electric four-wheeler segment by 2025. The Simple electric car will be positioned against the Ola’s upcoming electric four-wheeler. Speaking to a media publication Suhas Rajkumar, Founder & CEO, Simple Energy has revealed that the company aims to develop a new motor technology and enhance powertrain efficiency. It is also exploring the strong hybrid car market.
Talking about the company’s latest offering, the Simple One comes with a 5kWh lithium-ion battery and an 8.5kW permanent magnet motor. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a chain drive. The One electric scooter offers a claimed IDC range of 212km with 6 percent SOC left. It can do 0 to 40kmph in 2.77 seconds and offers a maximum speed of 105kmph. The e-scooter comes with four riding modes – Eco, Dash, Ride and Sonic.
Simple Energy claims that the One can be charged up to 80 percent in 5 hours 54 minutes by using a home or portable charger. There is an option for fast charger that charge the battery at the rate of 1.5km/min up to 80 percent.
