New Mahindra Compact SUV In the Works -KUV100 Replacement?

Recently, a test mule of the new Mahindra compact SUV was caught on camera in Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu. While there is no official word on the upcoming product, it’s reported to be a new micro SUV from the home-grown automaker. It could be introduced as a replacement to the KUV100 mini SUV, which was discontinued in April 2023. The KUX100 NXT was available with the 1.2L (82PS/115Nm) petrol engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. Rumour has it that the brand’s new small SUV could be named – Mahindra XUV100.

In the company’s product lineup, it will be positioned below the Mahindra XUV300 and put up against the Tata Punch, Maruti Suzuki Fronx and Hyundai Exter. In terms of pricing, the small SUV will also take on multiple cars right from Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger to Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Maruti Suzuki Ignis. Just so you know, Hyundai’s small SUV is ready to go on sale on 10th July 2023. The new Mahindra compact SUV is reported to hit roads towards the end of 2024.

New Mahindra Compact SUV

The micro SUV seems to be in its initial testing phase as the prototype features dummy headlamps and taillamps. The model might derive its some of its design bits from the Mahindra’s new electric SUV concepts that were showcased last year at an event in UK. The prototype features a roof-mounted spoiler with brake lights, a massive rear bumper with integrated reflectors, thick strip running across the width of the tailgate and a pronounced licence plate. The test mule has the “E20 Fuel” moniker on the rear windshield.

It would be too early to comment on its powertrain. Speculations suggest that the new Mahindra compact SUV could be offered with the 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine. The 1.2L turbocharged petrol motor could be reserved for the higher trims. It’s expected to come with both manual and automatic gearbox.
