MG Comet EV Vs Tata Tiago EV – Prices, Range, Specs, Features

MG Motor India recently rolled out the Comet EV with unique styling and compact yet feature-packed interior. While the British carmaker said that its new small electric car is premium than the Tata Tiago EV, the model goes head-to-head against it in terms of pricing. How does the new MG Comet EV stack up against the Tata Tiago EV? Let’s find that out by pitching these EVs against each other on paper.

One must note that MG announced prices of the Comet’s entry-level variant and that too is introductory. The small EV comes with a starting price tag of Rs 7.98 lakh. Price of the fully-loaded variant is yet to be announced.

Tata Tiago EV, on the other hand, is currently available within the price range of Rs 8.69 lakh – Rs 11.99 lakh.

As of now, the Comet EV (base variant) undercuts the Tiago EV.

The MG Comet comes with a battery pack of 17.3kWh and an electric motor. The combined power figure stands at 42PS and its torque output is 110Nm. The small EV is claimed to deliver a range of 230km (ARAI-certified).

The Tiago EV has been offered with two battery pack options – 19.2kWh and 24kWh. While the former makes power with 61PS with 110Nm and offers a range of 250km, the latter returns 75PS with 114Nm and a range of 315km.

When compared to the Tiago EV’s smaller battery version, the MG Comet is slightly less powerful. Though, the torque figures of both models are same. There is a slight different in their electric range as well.

While the Comet EV has a dual 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment and digital driver’s display, the Tiago EV offers a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wired smartphone connectivity. MG’s small EV comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The Tiago EV offers automatic climate control over the manual unit of the Comet.

Both electric cars are packed with dual front airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear parking camera, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), reverse parking sensors and tyre pressure monitoring system.

MG Comet EV Vs Tata Tiago EV – Dimensions

Being India’s smallest car, the MG Comet EV measures 2974mm in length, 1505mm in width and 1640mm in height with a wheelbase of 2010mm. There is no boot space.

The overall length, width and height of the Tiago EV stand at 3769mm, 1677mm and 1536mm respectively. The electric hatchback has a wheelbase of 2450mm and offers a boot space of 240-litres.
