2 Upcoming Mid-Sized SUVs In 2023 – Honda, Citroen

The mid-size SUV segment is currently one of the fastest growing segments in the Indian market. Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, VW Group, Hyundai and Kia are offering their respective models in the mid-sized SUV category. More brands will soon enter the segment, as two mid-sized SUVs are confirmed to be launched in our market in 2023. 

1. Citroen C3 Aircross

The French automaker has confirmed that its all-new mid-sized SUV will make its global debut in India on April 27, 2023. Rumoured to be called the new C3 Aircross, the new SUV will be the second product under the brand’s C-Cubed program. The new model will be offered in two seating layouts – 5 and 7-seats. While the former is positioned against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, VW Taigun and others, the 7-seater model will rival the Kia Carens and the Suzuki XL6. 

The new Citroen C3 Aircross will be based on the CMP (Common Modular Platform) platform, which currently underpins the C3 hatchback. It is likely to be powered by the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 110bhp and 190Nm of torque. The 7-seater model is likely to get the same powertrain, which is likely to be tuned for higher power. Transmission choices could include a 6-speed manual and an automatic unit.

Japanese automaker, Honda has confirmed that its upcoming mid-sized SUV will be revealed in the second quarter of 2023. The new model is scheduled to be launched by mid-2023, before Diwali. The new model will share the underpinnings with the City sedan. The new model will come with ADAS tech with features like collision mitigation braking system, road departure mitigation system, lane keeping assist system, adaptive cruise control and auto high beam.  

The new Honda SUV is reportedly to be called the Elevate, which has already been registered in the country. It is likely to be offered with two engine options –  a  1.5L iVTEC petrol and a 1.5L Atkinson cycle engine with e:HEV hybrid tech with two electric motors.
