2 New Honda Electric Scooters Confirmed – Launch In 2024

Honda is one of the few two-wheelers makers that doesn’t have an electric offering in our market. However, the Japanese maker has confirmed that it will launch two new electric vehicles in FY24.

The new Honda electric vehicles will be based on a dedicated platform, codenamed Platform ‘E’. This new platform will be used to produce multiple electric vehicles with varying battery packs and installation. Set to be launched in FY24, the first Honda electric vehicle will be a mid range electric scooter with a fixed battery.

The first electric scooter could be an affordable model. The new scooter is rumoured to be called the Honda Activa Electric. Honda has recently filed patents for a fixed battery and hub motor, which could preview some elements used on this upcoming e-scooter. Honda has also confirmed that its second EV for India will come with a swappable battery. The company will set up multiple battery swapping points across the country.

Honda will be setting up charging stations across the brand’s existing 6000+ network touchpoints. Eventually some of them being transformed into Workshop ‘E’, the exclusive set-up will house HEID battery exchangers and mini battery exchangers for swappable battery type and charging cables for fixed battery type. Additionally, HMSI plans to leverage the overall ecosystem, including Battery swapping stations at petrol pumps, metro stations, and other locations, to provide convenient battery swapping solutions for EV users.
