Every Mazda Vehicle Tested Earns 2023 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK Award

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has announced the winners of its 2023 top safety awards and every tested Mazda vehicle made the list. These vehicles include the Mazda3 Sedan, Mazda3 Hatchback, CX-30, CX-5, CX-50 and CX-9.

New for the 2023 program year, IIHS strengthened the requirements for its TOP SAFETY PICK and TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards, demanding better side crash protection, improved pedestrian crash prevention systems and superior headlight performance.

IIHS notes the biggest change to the criteria for both awards is the replacement of the original IIHS side crash test with the updated evaluation launched in 2021. The updated test involves 82 percent more energy than the original test. Vehicles must earn an Acceptable or Good rating in this tougher test to qualify for TOP SAFETY PICK. The Mazda CX-5, CX-9, and Mazda3 all stood out with top, Good ratings in this test.

Yamaha Aerox S Priced at Rs 1.50 Lakh; Gets Smart Key

Yamaha Motor India has introduced the new Aerox S variant with keyless ignition and a few more features. This new variant has been priced at Rs 1,50,000, thus making it Rs 3300 more expensive from the standard variant. It can be had in two colour schemes – Silver and Racing Blue. By simply pressing a button on the smart key, you can easily locate the scooter as it triggers flashing indicators and emits a distinctive sound. Instead of the conventional slot, the key knob conveniently adjusts to various positions, whether it’s powering on/off the scooter or opening the fuel cap. The new Yamaha Aerox S variant is equipped with an immobilizer feature, ensuring the vehicle automatically locks when the smart key is beyond its range. No other changes have been made to it. Auto Expo 2023 has got off to a flying start with the unveiling of the much-awaited Maruti Suzuki Fronx Coupe SUV.
