Honda’s Hero Splendor Rival Leaked In Patent Image
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) is reported to be working on a new 100cc motorcycle to challenge dominance of the Hero Splendor. Recently, a patent image of the upcoming model has been leaked online revealing some interesting details. The new Honda 100cc bike is expected to share some of its design elements from the CG Dream series that’s currently on sale in Pakistan. It has the conventional headlamp, handlebar integrated side mirrors, single piece seat, rear grab handle and spoked wheels.
Earlier reports suggest that the new Honda 100cc bike will be highly fuel efficient and come at an affordable price. The model is likely to go on sale sometime this year. With its new budget commuter, the Japanese two-wheeler maker aims to target mass market. The company also plans to further expand its dealership network in India. In financial year 2022, Honda setup 11 new touchpoints in rural and urban areas with a total of 5,246 outlets. By the end of FY22, it established 239 approved service centres, 119 additional associate dealers and 10 Best Deal (BD) outlets.
Recently, HMSI confirmed that will enter into the electric two-wheeler market by March 2024. The first Honda electric scooter will be based on the Activa and have a fixed battery pack. It would be capable to deliver a maximum speed of 50kmph. The Honda Activa EV will look similar to its ICE-powered version, but get a few EV-specific design changes. The company is also working on a more electric scooter that will underpin an all-new platform.
Unlike the electric Activa, the new Honda electric scooter will come with a swappable battery and promise better performance. In the company’s product lineup, the second Honda electric scooter will sit above the Activa EV and likely to cost higher. HMSI will manufacture electric motors in-house in the country. It has been working on localization of the e-motor and batter from the past few months.
