3 New Maruti Suzuki SUVs/MPV Launching Before Diwali 2023

Buoyed by positive response for the new Brezza & Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki is now ready to expand its SUV portfolio by launching two new models in the next 3-4 months. Moreover, the brand’s most expensive utility vehicle will be launched in the country by festive season, before Diwali 2023. Adding to it, the company is preparing the next-gen Swift twins as well as an all-electric SUV based on the EVX concept.

Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Jimny 5-door and the Fronx crossover in the country by mid-2023. Interested buyers can book the new Suzuki Jimny and the Fronx online or at authorised NEXA dealerships by paying a token amount of Rs 25,000 and Rs 11,000 respectively. The new Maruti Fronx crossover is based on Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform that underpins the Baleno hatchback.

The Maruti Fronx is available with two engine options – a 100bhp, 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and an 89bhp, 1.2L dual-jet naturally-aspirated petrol. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual as standard, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic and an AMT with 1.2L NA. The new model shares the interior with the Baleno and new Brezza.

The Suzuki Jimny lifestyle SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre K15B 4-cylinder petrol engine with an idle start/stop function. This engine is capable of producing 103bhp and 134Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter automatic unit. The SUV gets Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4×4 drivetrain with a low-range transfer gear as standard. It will come in two trims – Zeta and Alpha. The SUV won’t have a direct rival in our market; however, it could impact the sales of Mahindra Thar.

Upcoming Maruti MPV

It is reported that Maruti’s version of the Toyota Innova Hycross will be introduced in our market by August 2023. Set to be the brand’s most expensive model, the new premium MPV will be sold through NEXA dealership network. The MPV is based on a monocoque TNGA-C platform with front-wheel-drive layout. It will receive design and interior changes to keep things fresh in our market. It will also be the first Maruti Suzuki model to feature ADAS tech. The MPV will be offered with two engine options – a 174PS, 2.0L NA petrol and a 2.0L petrol engine with the hybrid tech offering a combined output of 186PS and 206Nm of torque.
