Tata Motors is widely reported to be working on the facelifted versions of the Harrier and Safari for the domestic market. The Harrier midsize SUV was first introduced in early 2019 and it has been a good seller for the homegrown manufacturer. The facelifted Harrier and Safari will help in stretching the lifecycle of the existing generation.

The 2023 Tata Harrier will more likely arrive first as it could be showcased at the Auto Expo in January before going on sale but the brand has not made any official announcement yet. It will adorn an updated front fascia comprising redesigned headlamps, new LED Daytime Running Lights, a revised bumper and wider central inlet and a set of newly designed alloy wheels.

Other highlights include an updated LED tail lamp cluster and bumper. The interior may also receive a host of changes including a bigger touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 360-degree camera system and ADAS-based driver assistive and safety technologies to further spice things up in the segment.

The 2023 Tata Safari is also expected to gain similar changes but the powertrain option could remain the same. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine developing a maximum power output of 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque will be utilised. A six-speed manual transmission and a six-speed torque converter AT will continue to be the transmission choices.

A special edition Tata Harrier has also been teased and it will more likely go on sale in the coming months. It will feature a slew of visual and interior enhancements to differentiate itself from the regular variant. Tata will unveil the near-production version of the Punch EV at the 2023 Auto Expo before its market launch in the due course of the year.

It will likely sit on the Sigma platform and could become the country’s most affordable electric SUV upon arrival as it will be positioned below the Nexon EV. It will adopt Ziptron technology and could have a driving range of around 350 km on a single charge.
