Upcoming Mahindra SUVs – 6 Electric, 3 ICE
In the past couple of years, Mahindra had launched several new SUVs including the new XUV700, new 3-door Thar, new Scorpio-N, Scorpio Classic and the XUV300 facelift. The company is now preparing to launch a new range of SUVs for the Indian as well as global markets. The homegrown automaker will launch 6 electric SUVs and 3 all-new ICE vehicles in the next 2-3 years, and here’s the list –

– Mahindra will launch the new XUV400 electric SUV in the country in January 2023. Test drives for the model will commence from December 2022. It will be offered in 3 variants – Base, EP and EL. The new model is based on the sub-4 meter XUV300 SUV; however, the XUV400 will measure 4.2 meters in length. It comes with a front-axle-mounted electric motor that draws power from a 39.4kWh battery pack. The electric motor pushes out 150bhp and 310Nm of torque. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in just 8.3 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 150kmph. It is claimed to have a certified range of 456km on a single charge. Using a 50kW fast charger, the XUV400’s battery can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in 50 minutes.
– Mahindra is also readying the new Bolero Neo Plus, which will be offered in P4 and P10 trims and two seating layouts – 7 and 9-seats. Dimensionally, the SUV will measure 4,400mm in length, 1,795mm in width and 1,812mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,680mm. It will share its engine with the Thar off-road SUV. It will come with the 2.2L mHawk diesel engine with both manual and automatic gearboxes.
– Mahindra is also developing a long wheelbase version of the Thar lifestyle SUV, which is expected to be launched in 2023. The new 5-door model will rival the likes of the Maruti Jimny and the Force Gurkha 5-door version. It will be based on the new Scorpio-N’s ladder-frame chassis that’s made of high-strength steel. It will be offered with a 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engine, which also powers the 3-door version. The motors could be tuned for generating extra power and torque. Both manual and automatic gearbox will be on offer.
– Mahindra has officially announced that the next-gen Bolero SUV is under development. It will be based on the new ladder-on-frame chassis, which underpins the new Scorpio and the Thar. The new model is likely to be offered with a new 2.2L turbo diesel engine that also powers the Thar. This engine produces 132bhp and 320Nm of torque. The company could also use the 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine to power the next Bolero.
– The homegrown automaker had revealed 5 new electric SUVs namely – XUV e8, XUV e9, BE.05, BE 07 and BE 09. The Mahindra XUV.e8 is scheduled to be launched in the country in December 2024, while the XUV e9 will be launched by April 2025. On the other hand, the Mahindra BE electric range will start arriving by October 2022.
– The new electric range will be based on the INGLO platform that’s Born Electric Platform. The XUV electric range will feature an all-wheel drive system and an 80kWh battery pack. It is claimed to offer a power output in the range of 230hp to 350hp. The new BE.05 electric SUV is scheduled to be launched by October 2025. This SUV is 4,370mm long, 1,900mm wide and 1,635mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,775mm. On the other hand, the BE.07 electric SUV will launch by October 2026. The company hasn’t revealed the launch time for the top-spec BE.09.
