Mahindra Scorpio N, XUV700 Recalled; Over 19,000 Units Affected

Mahindra & Mahindra has issued a recall for the XUV700 and Scorpio N SUVs to inspect rubber bellow inside bell housing. The recall exercise will include 12,566 units of the Mahindra XUV700 manual transmission variants and 6,618 units of the Mahindra Scorpio-N manual transmission models. All recalled variants are manufactured between 1st July and 11th November, 2022.

The carmaker said that the sorting process error at the supplier’s plant may have affected operating dimensional clearance of rubber bellow inside bell housing. The inspection and rectification procedure will be free of charge. Customers will be individually contacted by the Mahindra dealerships.

Mahindra XUV700 Waiting Period

The Mahindra XUV700 comes with the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol mStallion and 2.2L, four-cylinder mHawk turbo diesel engine options. While the former delivers power worth 200bhp and 380Nm of torque, the latter is good enough for 115bhp and 360Nm. The higher diesel variants offer 185bhp with 420Nm (MT) and 450Nm (AT). The XUV700 diesel comes with four drive modes – Zip, Zap, Zoom and Custom. Both motors can be had with the 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options. A lower-spec diesel variants are offered with a manual gearbox only. The XUV700 can be had with the AWD (All-Wheel Drive) system.

The Mahindra Scorpio N has been made available with a 2.0L turbo petrol and a 2.2L diesel engine. The gasoline unit makes a peak power of 203bhp with 370Nm (MT) and 380NM (AT) of torque. The oil burner returns a claimed power of 132bhp with 300Nm and 175bhp with 370Nm (MT)/400 (AT). A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard across the model lineup. The higher spec diesel and petrol variants can also be had with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. While the Scorpio N lower variants get RWD system, the higher diesel models come with 4WD setup. The SUV offers mechanical locking rear differential, an independent front suspension, ESP-based brake locking front differential and a five-link rear suspension.
