Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 India Launch Price 1.55 Crore; 857km Range
Mercedes-Benz has launched the new EQS 580 4Matic in the Indian market at Rs 1.55 crore (ex-showroom). This locally assembled model is positioned below the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 S and also undercuts the S-Class by Rs 5 lakh. The Mercedes-Benz EQS is also the company’s first locally assembled EV in the country.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic has a slightly different design compared to the EQS 53. It comes with toned-down front bumper, and the blanked-out grille has several illuminated 3-pointed stars. It rides on smaller 20-inch wheels with a five-spoke design. Riding on the 3,210mm long wheelbase, the new Mercedes EQS 580 measures 5,126mm in length.
Thanks to the coupe-style design, the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 has a drag coefficient of 0.20 that is llwer than the EQS 53’s 0.23. The company claims that the new EQS 580 is the world’s most aerodynamic production car.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 comes with a ‘Hyperscreen’, which comprises of 3 screens joined together by one glass panel. The driver and front passenger get 12.3-inch screens each, while the centre has 17.7-inch infotainment screen. The electric sedan comes with 3D maps, heads-up display, front seats with massage function, a Burmester 3D sound system, air filtration, and the MBUX tablet for the rear seat passengers. For safety and security, it offers nine airbags, lane change and lane keep assist, and emergency stop system.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 comes fitted with a 107.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which sends power to two electric motors, one at the front and other at the rear axle. The combined power output and torque stands at 523bhp and 855Nm respectively, It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in 4.3 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 210kmph.
The battery pack supports 200kW DC fast charging, which is claimed to add 300km of range in just 15 minutes. The new Mercedes EQS 580 has an ARAI certified range of 857km on a single charge.
