In the coming months, we will witness some major new car launches across different segments. Talking about the hatchbacks, there will be three models which are ready to hit roads – new-generation Maruti Alto, Maruti Baleno CNG and Toyota Glanza CNG. Here’s a brief on these upcoming hatches.

2022 Maruti Alto

New Maruti Alto 2022

The new-generation Maruti Alto is reported to see a release on 18th August, 2022. The hatchback will come with significantly improved styling, up-market interior and new engine setup. Similar to Maruti Suzuki’s new breed cars, the 2022 Maruti Alto might switch to the lightweight Heartect platform. This time around, the hatch might get a new touchscreen infotainment system with the latest smartphone connectivity along with a semi-digital instrument console, newly-designed dashboard and revised central console.

Under the hood, the upcoming new Alto is likely to feature the 1.0L K10C Dualjet engine making 67bhp and 89Nm. It will continue to be available with the 47bhp, 796cc, 3-cylinder petrol motor as well. The company might introduce the CNG variant of the Alto. More details here…

The Maruti Baleno and Toyota Glanza CNG will be made available with the 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine paired to a factory-fitted CNG kit. The regular gasoline unit makes a top power of 89PS and 113Nm of torque. It delivers a mileage of over 22kmpl (ARAI-certified).

The CNG version of both hatchbacks are reported to return fuel efficiency of 25kmpl. The power and torque figures, however, might be slightly lower than the regular petrol model.
