New Maruti Alto 800 Spotted Testing On Shimla Highway – Video
Maruti Suzuki has recently launched the new-gen Celerio hatchback, which is the first all-new product from MSIL in last two years. The company is now readying multiple new products and facelifts of existing products. The next big launch from the Indo-Japanese automaker is the new Maruti Alto 800, which has been spotted testing alongside the new S-Presso.
Not just new Alto, Maruti Suzuki will also launch the new-gen Brezza, Baleno facelift, new S-Cross, Jimny 5-door and a Baleno based crossover codenamed YTB. Moreover, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota JV is developing an all-new mid-sized SUV to rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos.
The new Maruti Alto 800 is expected to be launched in 2022, most probably by mid-2022. The new model has been spotted by a Youtube user, DesiSpeech near Panchkula on the Shimla Highway. The latest prototype was fully disguised under a thick cloth.
Despite heavy camouflage, the overall profile of the new Alto 800 is visible in the spy images. The new model has received major changes, as the overall design has been completely revised. It looks like a tall-boy hatchback, and appears significantly bigger – longer and wider – than the outgoing model.
The new Maruti Alto 800 is expected to be based on the lightweight HEARTECT platform that underpins the new S-Presso. Not just platform, the new model is expected to share several features and other parts with the S-Presso. The design of the front fascia looks similar to the existing model; however, the design of the grille and the bumper appear bigger and bolder than the existing car. It gets the honeycomb mesh pattern front grille that covers most of the front part.

The tall-boy hatchback gets sweptback headlamps, a sculpted hood and new bumper that has C-shaped fog lamp enclosure. The hatchback is also expected to receive LED DRLs. The new model will be lighter than the existing model. Expect, it to be the most fuel efficient car in the country.
The cabin of the new Maruti Alto 800 is expected to receive major changes. It is likely to get all-new dashboard layout with similarities with the new Celerio and the S-Presso. Moreover, the entry-level car is likely to get some modern features like a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, a semi-digital instrument console, keyless entry, engine start/stop button and others.
It is likely to be offered with the existing 800cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine. The company could also add the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine, which was earlier offered on the Alto K10. The small car will also receive CNG powered model.
