Tata Punch will mark the carmaker’s entry into the micro SUV segment. Based on the Tata HBX concept, the upcoming mini SUV will arrive in the month of September. The final model stays close to the concept that broke cover at the 2020 Auto Expo. The Punch carries Tata’s Impact 2.0 Design language and underpins the Altroz’ Alfa platform. Some of its design elements seem to be borrowed from the Harrier. Its interior is likely to share resemblance to the Altroz premium hatchback. The upcoming Tata Punch mini SUV is reported to be offered with the 1.2L, naturally aspirated and 1.2L turbocharged petrol engines and manual and AMT gearbox options.

It will be one of the most feature-packed vehicles in its segment. MG has already confirmed that the Astor will offer the segment-first Level 2 autonomous technology and a personal AI assistant system. It will also be the brand’s first model to feature the Concept of Car as a Platform (CAAP) software. Here, the MG Astor is likely to be made available with a 1.3L turbo petrol engine delivering 163bhp and 230Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.

Some of its key highlights include two slat chrome grille, bumper with chrome inserts, unique taillamp cluster, dashboard integrated info unit, digital instrument cluster and more. For power, there will be two turbocharged petrol engines – 1.0L, 3-cylinder and 1.5L TSI – making 115bhp and 150bhp respectively. There will be three gearbox options – 6-speed manual (standard), 6-speed torque convertor (1.0L petrol only) and 7-speed DCT (1.5L petrol only).

The SUV will also continue to come with the 1.5L K15B NA petrol engine. Though, it might get the stronger hybrid technology.
