Mahindra Javelin Trademarked – Special Edition Or A New SUV?
Mahindra & Mahindra has successfully trademarked the names – ‘Javelin’ and ‘Javelin by Mahindra’. The new nameplate (Mahindra Javelin) is likely to be used for an upcoming new SUV or a special edition of the Mahindra XUV700, as things stand this is purely speculations. Just so you know, the carmaker recently announced a specially designed XUV700 edition for the Neeraj Chopra in honour of him winning the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics. More details are expected to be revealed in near future.
Talking about Mahindra’s future plan, the company has lined-up several new models for the Indian market. The automaker recently revealed the prices and details of the new Mahindra XUV700 SUV that will go on sale in coming weeks. The Mahindra Marazzo AMT version is also reported to arrive towards the end of this year. The new-generation Mahindra Scorpio will be the first and major launch from the home-grown carmaker in 2022.
The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will take a big leap in terms of design and features. In fact, its engine setup will also include the all-new 2.0L turbocharged petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel motors making power close to 150bhp and 158bhp respectively. The SUV can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. Both 2WD and 4WD systems will be on offer.
The Pune-based automaker will also expand its electric vehicle product lineup with the new Mahindra e-KUV100 and Mahindra e-XUV300. While the former is likely to arrive in early 2022, the latter will come in the second half of the next year. The Mahindra XUV300 electric SUV will be the brand’s first production vehicle to underpin Made-in-India MESMA (Mahindra Electric Scalable Modular Architecture) platform. It will take directly on India’s top-selling electric car – Tata Nexon EV. Though, the e-XUV300 is reported to deliver higher electric range than its arch rival.
