Upcoming Hyundai Cars – Casper, Stargazer MPV, Creta Facelift
Korean automaker, Hyundai will launch 2 all-new cars in the Indian market in the next 1 year. Adding to it, the company will bring its global N Line performance brand in our market. Hyundai’s top-selling mid-sized SUV, the Creta will also receive a mid-life update in the near future.
Hyundai Casper
The company will launch the new Casper micro SUV in the country in 2022. The new micro SUV will first go on sale in South Korea with mass production to commence from September 15, 2021. The new micro SUV will be positioned against the likes of the Maruti Ignis, Mahindra KUV100 NXT and the soon-to-be-launched Tata HBX micro SUV.
The Hyundai Casper will share the platform and mechanical bits with the Santro and the Grand i10 Nios. The vehicle is reportedly to get a 1.0-litre Smartstream petrol engine that produces 75bhp of power and 95Nm of torque. A 4-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox will come as standard. The India-spec model is likely to share the Santro’s 68bhp, 1.1L engine or a 82bhp, 1.2-litre petrol engine that powers the Grand i10 Nios. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual and an AMT.
Hyundai Stargazer MPV
The Korean automaker is preparing a new MPV to rival the likes of the Maruti Ertiga and the Mahindra Marazzo. Likely to be called the Hyundai Stargazer, the new MPV will be launched in growing markets such as India, Indonesia and Russia. Internally called the Hyundai KS, the new MPV will make global debut in 2022.
The new MPV will be based on the modified version of Creta’s platform, which underpins the Alcazar. It is likely to measure around 4.5 meters in length, and could be offered in 6-and 7-seat options. The India-spec model is likely to be offered in two engine options – a 113bhp, 1.5L petrol and a 113bhp, 1.5L diesel. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer.
Hyundai i20 N Line
The company is likely to launch the i20 N Line in the country during festive season, before Diwali 2021. The hatchback will receive changes in line with the brand’s global i20 N Line. It will have a re-styled bumper, a blackened grille with a “chequered flag” pattern and a striking N Line badge along with additional skirting in a grey contrasting stripe. The hatch will also get new triangular shaped fog lamp and a chromed twin-exhaust. The hatchback rides on newly styled dual-tone 17-inch alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, it will get N badging and sport front seats with contrasting red stitching along with a dedicated N steering wheel. It will also get metal pedals and N gear shift knob with red inserts. It will be powered by a 118bhp, 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. Transmission options could include a 7-speed DCT and a 6-speed iMT. It is expected that the new Hyundai i20 N Line will be refined in terms of suspension, engine response and exhaust sound.
Hyundai Creta Facelift
The spy images confirm that the front fascia of the Creta facelift will receive comprehensive changes. It will take design inspiration from the fourth generation Tucson, which has recently been introduced in international market. It will get new parametric grille and new projector headlamps with LED DRLs. The front bumper, fog lamp assembly and faux skid plate will also be revised. It is also likely to get new alloys and split tail-lamps.
The new Creta is also expected to receive new leather upholstery, a 360 degree camera, HUD (head-up unit) and ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). It will retain the existing engine options – a 113bhp, 1.5L diesel, a 113bhp, 1.5L petrol and a 138bhp, 1.4L turbo-petrol.
