Hyundai Stargazer 7-Seater MPV Spotted – Is It India-Bound?
Recently, the prototypes of Hyundai’s upcoming 6/7-seater MPV were spotted testing in South Korea. The MPV (internally known as KS) could be named Hyundai Stargazer as the carmaker recently field trademark application for the Stargazer nameplate. If reports are to be believed, the vehicle will enter into production next year in the Southeast Asian markets. As of now, there is no clarity whether the same model will come to India or not.
The test mules were heavily camouflaged covering most of its design details. Though, one can notice its vertically placed LED taillamps, large greenhouse and high mounted stop lamp at the rear. The Hyundai Stargazer MPV also features a raked front windshield and a slightly sloping roofline.
The South Korean automaker is preparing a compact 7-seater MPV for the Indian market. Here, the model will be positioned against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga that currently costs between Rs 7.81 lakh – Rs 10.59 lakh. The latter one is ready to receive a mid-life update early next year. In terms of pricing, the new Hyundai 7-seater MPV (Hyundai Stargazer) will be slightly premium than its arch rival. Its prices are likely to start from Rs 9 lakh for the base variant and go up to Rs 14 lakh for the top-end variant.
Reports suggest that the upcoming Hyundai 7-seater MPV might share its platform and engines with the Venue subcompact SUV. That means, it could be offered with the 1.5L petrol and 1.5L diesel engines delivering power worth 113bhp with 145Nm and 250Nm respectively.
In other updates, Hyundai is working on a mini SUV (codenamed – Hyundai AX1) that’s ready to enter into mass production from 15th September 2021. Its production-ready model will be first launched in the home country, followed by other countries (including India). Its final model could be called Hyundai Casper. Powering the micro SUV will be a 1.0L Smartstream petrol engine making 75bhp and 95Nm.
