Maruti Baleno Based Compact SUV Rendered In 6 Bright Colours

Maruti Suzuki is planning to tap the fastest growing SUV segment with around 5 new models by 2023. The plan outlines the new-generation Vitara Brezza, 5-door Jimny, a mid-size SUV (developed with Toyota) and a Baleno based compact crossover.

While the new Brezza subcompact SUV is slated to arrive during 2021 festive season, the LWB Jimny and new subcompact crossover are reported to launch sometime next year. The Maruti-Toyota mid-size SUV is likely to hit roads by 2023.

Here’s a latest digital rendering that previews a possible design of the upcoming Maruti Baleno based compact crossover. The rendered model carries Ignis and S-Presso inspired grille featuring the signature logo in the centre.

The compact SUV has uniquely designed headlamps and LED DRLs running across the front grille. In fact, its fog lamp assembly looks different from the Baleno.

The black radiator grille, black bumper with chrome strips, pronounced bonnet, body-coloured ORVMs, alloy wheels and coupe SUV-like slopping roof with an integrated shark fin antenna add more to its crossover-ish looks.

The interior layout and features are likely to be carried over from its premium hatchback donor. The upcoming Maruti Baleno based compact crossover is likely to come with leather wrapped steering wheel, new SmartPlay infotainment system with navigation and voice commands, telescopic and adjustment for steering wheel, auto dimming interior mirror, height adjustable driver’s seat, rear parking camera, automatic climate control and more.

On the engine front, the new Maruti compact crossover based on the Baleno is likely to come with a 1.5L K-Series petrol motor. It will deliver power worth 104bhp and 138Nm of torque. The model lineup can be had with either a 5-speed manual gearbox (standard) or an automatic transmission (optional).
