Hyundai Alcazar Launch Preparations Begin; To Be Hyundai’s 5th SUV
Hyundai India is all set to expand its SUV product portfolio in coming weeks. The South Korean carmaker recently released a promotional video of its upcoming Hyundai Alcazar 6/7-seater SUV that’s slated to hit roads in June 2021. The video shows the brand’s existing SUV lineup that includes Creta, Venue, Tucson and Kona electric. All four vehicles formed the ‘Alcazar’ name 1km in length in the Rann of Kutch. The carmaker has already confirmed that the Hyundai Alcazar SUV will come with the 1.5L diesel and 2.0L naturally aspirated petrol engines. While the oil burner will make power worth 115bhp and 250Nm of torque, the gasoline unit will deliver 159bhp and 192Nm. Compared to the Tucson and Elantra that use the same 2.0L petrol engine, the three-row SUV is slightly more powerful (7bhp). The SUV has disc brakes at all four corners.

As mentioned about, the new Hyundai three-row SUV will be offered with 6 and 7-seats layouts. The 6-seater version will have captain seats and the 7-seater model will feature a regular bench seat in the middle-row. The 6-seater Alcazar will offer the central floor console situated between the middle row seats that consists of the central armrest, storage bins and cup holders. The upcoming Hyundai Alcazar will sit on the longest wheelbase (2760mm) in its segment. Its rivals – MG Hector Plus and Safari come with 2750mm and 2741mm long wheelbase respectively. Compared to the Creta 5-seater, the new three-row SUV has 150mm longer wheelbase. Some of its key design elements include a more pronounced chrome-studded grille, newly-designed fog lamps, smaller faux skid plate, 18-inch alloy wheels, a more upright tailgate and larger taillamps.
