2021 Volkswagen Tiguan 5-Seater SUV Revealed In India
Volkswagen has revealed the new Tiguan facelift for the Indian market. The new model will be launched in the country in the next few months. The new Volkswagen Tiguan comes with subtle design changes and new features, along with a new engine.
The 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan retains the overall profile. It gets the completely revised front fascia, featuring new front grille and sharper headlamps. The SUV also features new LED Matrix headlamps. The front seems inspired by the European Touareg and the Atlas Cross.
It features a new front bumper with triangular-shaped fog lamp clusters and revised air intakes. New VW badge is placed centrally at the front. Other design changes include new alloys, L-shaped LED tail-lamps, revised bumper with a diffuser plate and ‘TIGUAN’ lettering on the centre of the tailgate.
The interior of the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan is similar to the Tigual AllSpace; however, it gets a touchscreen interface for the climate control system. The AllSpace has rotary knobs for the climate control system. The SUV gets a powered panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, connected car tech and leather seats. The SUV also gets 3-zone climate control and an 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat.
For safety and security, the SUV gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), hill start and descent assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system, etc. Expected to be priced under Rs 30 lakh, the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan will rival the Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass and the Citroen C5 Aircross.
The SUV will be powered by a 2.0-litre, turbo-petrol engine that churns out a maximum power output of 187bhp and a peak torque of 320Nm. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG. The SUV will also get Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system.
Volkswagen has also released the new made-in-India Taigun mid-sized SUV, which will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The new model will be launched in the mid-2021, before Diwali. The SUV will be offered with two engine options – a 113bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol with 6-speed torque convertor automatic and a 147bhp, 1.5L turbo-petrol with 7-speed DSG. A 6-speed manual gearbox will come as standard.
