Top 6 New Cars To Launch In India By Mid-2021: Tata HBX

Skoda Vision IN
Czech automaker, Skoda will enter into the mid-sized SUV segment of India with an all-new SUV based on the Vision IN Concept. The concept was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. The new SUV will be based on the heavily localised MQB AO IN platform, which will also underpin an all-new mid-sized sedan to rival Honda City. The new SUV will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the Nissan Kicks. It will be offered with 2 engine options – a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol with 6MT and 6AT, and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. While the former is good for 108bhp and 175Nm of torque, the 1.5L engine produces 147bhp and 250Nm of torque.
Tata HBX micro SUV
Tata Motors will launch the production version of the HBX micro SUV in the second quarter of 2021. It will be the brand’s second model to be based on the ALFA modular platform, which underpins the Altroz hatchback. The new micro SUV will be positioned against the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the Mahindra KUV100 NXT. It is reportedly to be offered with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 85bhp and 113Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit.
New Mahindra XUV500
Mahindra will launch the next-gen XUV500 in the first quarter of 2021. The new model will be based on the new front-wheel-drive monocoque platform, which will also underpin the Ford C-SUV. The new XUV500 will grow in size, and will ride on longer wheelbase to create more space inside the cabin. The SUV will have Mercedes-inspired dashboard design, featuring large touchscreen and digital instrument console. It will rival the MG Hector Plus and the Tata Gravitas. The SUV will be offered with two engine options – a new 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel and a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol.
New Mahindra Scorpio
Not just new XUV500, Mahindra will also launch the next generation Scorpio SUV in the second quarter of 2021. The new model will be based on the new ladder-frame chassis, which underpins the new Thar. It will also grow in size, which will allow Mahindra to offer front-facing third row of seats. The SUV will receive the 2.2L turbocharged diesel and 2.0L turbocharged petrol engines offering around 158bhp and 150bhp respectively. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
New Maruti Celerio
Maruti Suzuki will introduce the second generation Celerio hatchback in the country in the first half of 2021. The new model will be based on the Suzuki’s lightweight HEARTECT platform, which also underpins the S-Presso and the WagonR. The new model will be equipped with several modern day features including a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, multi-functional steering wheel, reverse camera, and others. The hatchback will come with a 1.2L, 4-cylinder K12 petrol and a 1.0L, 3-cylinder K10 petrol options. While the former makes power worth 83bhp with 11Nm, the latter one is good enough for 68bhp and 90Nm. Both powertrains will be offered with 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options.
Volkswagen Taigun
Volkswagen will launch the Taigun mid-sized SUV in the second quarter of 2021. The new model will use the MQB AO IN platform that underpins the Skoda Vision IN based SUV. It will share most of the features and engine specifications with the Skoda’s SUV. The SUV will be offered with a 108bhp, 1.0L turbo-petrol and a 147bhp, 1.5L turbo-petrol engine options.
