The Indo-Japanese carmaker is reported to launch 4 new SUVs by 2023. Each one of them will have a price gap of Rs 45,000 – Rs 50,000. The lineup is likely to include the new-generation Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The subcompact SUV might underpin Toyota’s DNGA platform and come with the more powerful and efficient mild hybrid engine. The company is also working a mid-size SUV to challenge the dominance of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Reports suggest that Maruti Suzuki will bring in the 5-door version of the Jimny SUV and an all-new crossover to challenge Tata Nexon.

Hyundai Alcazar – H2, 2021
The South Korean carmaker is currently working on the 7-seater version of the Hyundai Creta that has been spotted testing multiple times. Its production-ready model is reported to be named Hyundai Alcazar. The 7-seater SUV will be longer than its 5-seater sibling. Its wheelbase might also be stretched for accommodating an additional third row of seats. Significant design and feature upgrades will be made to the vehicle. The upcoming Alcazar is likely to come with 18bhp, 1.4L turbo petrol and 113bhp, 1.5L turbo diesel engines.

Tata Gravitas – Early 2021
Tata HBX – Early 2021
The home-grown carmaker has already confirmed the Gravitas 6/7-seater SUV and HBX concept based mini SUV for the early next year. The Gravitas, which is essentially the bigger version of the Harrier, will come with the 170bhp, 2.0L diesel engine and both manual and automatic gearbox options. Visually, the 6/7-seater SUV will look slightly different from the Harrier. The production-ready version of the Tata HBX might be christened ‘Tata Hornbill’. The mini SUV will feature Tata’s new Impact 2.0 Design language and offered with 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine. Customers will have manual and AMT gearboxes to choose from.

Mahindra & Mahindra will launch a range of new SUVs in the next two years. The new-generation XUV500 and Scorpio, which are slated to arrive early next year, will witness comprehensive changes inside and out. Besides this, the SUVs will receive more powerful and efficient petrol and diesel engines. The home-grown carmaker will also bring in the electric iteration and a sportier version of the XUV300 subcompact SUV. Both models are likely to hit roads sometime next year. Mahindra will also foray into the mid-size SUV space to challenge the Creta and Seltos via the XUV400. The model could be offered with both 5 and 7-seats layouts. It will be based on Ford VX-772 platform and designed jointly by Mahindra and Pininfarina.
