New Jeep Compass, Grand Compass 7-Seater Coming Next Year
Jeep has planned a range of new SUVs for the Indian market that are slated to hit roads in a couple of years. The American carmaker will foray into the sub-4 meter SUV, mid-size SUV and 7-seater premium SUV segments. Besides this, the Jeep Compass will receive a mid-life update sometime next year. We have seen multiple spy pictures of the 2021 Jeep Compass and Jeep Grand Compass 7-seater SUV revealing their interesting details.
The latest digital rendering of both models, based on their spy images, preview their possible design. The rendered 5-seater Compass facelift carries a more pronounced 7-slot grille and revised front bumper. The headlamps look sharper than before. Unlike the current model, the updated one has separate fog lamp assembly and turn indicators.
No changes are visible at the side and rear profile. Talking about the 2021 Jeep Grand Compass, the 7-seater SUV shares most of its design bits with the Jeep Grand Commander. Though, the alloy wheels with dual-tone finish and roof rails mark a distinction to its portfolio.
If reports are to be believed, the Jeep Grand Compass 7-seater might come with diesel engine only. Powering the SUV could be a 2.0L MJD turbo motor making 173bhp and 350Nm. The carmaker might also use the twin-turbo version of the 2.0L oil burner that will be good enough for 200bhp and 450Nm. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer. The SUV can be had either with RWD (rear-wheel-drive) or AWD (all-wheel-drive) system.
In India, the 2021 Jeep Compass facelift is likely to come with a new 1.3L turbo petrol with direct injection technology and engine start-stop system. It delivers a claimed power of 180bhp with 285Nm. The existing 1.4L turbo petrol and 2.0L turbo diesel will also continue to be on offer.
